NEW WORK, Exhibition & Catalog
Curator, Catalog Editor & Production Manager

New Work: Art from the Workers at the New Museum, was an exhibition created by the workers at the New Museum and produced by Lena Imamura for The Stanton Chapter.

This exhibition, opened the backdoor of New York’s polemical-cum-nebulous contemporary art institution, The New Museum with over forty works from the docents, directors, art handlers, accountants, maintenance staff and security guards who keep the place running. With painting, sculpture, photography, performance, music, and design, "New Work" revealed what all those invisibles are thinking about when they’re not committed to their desks or telling you to keep away from the art.

A catalogue was released in conjunction with the exhibition. Essay contributions from Seth Cameron, Maureen Connor, Ruby Mcneil and Greg Sholette accompany artist biographies and images from the exhibition.

The Stanton Chapter was located at 176 Stanton Street, New York, NY 10002 and the exhibition was on view from November 3 ~ December 1, 2008.
