LOVE PUNCH, Music Event
Co-producer & Co-curator

Love Punch, was a week-long music event from Tuesday, August 26th through Saturday, August 30th 2008. Punch was served, benches were out on the street, and plenty of sun, people and music. Every day The Stanton Chapter hosted a showcase of indie bands and djs. Students, artists, musicians, professionals and local residents were invited to come and enjoy Love Punch, as one last celebration of the summer. Onlookers were able to hear the newest sounds from performers like Aeon Crunc, Team Facelift, Holy Ghost!, No Surrender, Todosantos, Ninja Sonik and many others while enjoying a cold beverage inside the airconditioned gallery.

The event was created in loving memory of block parties, storefront band spaces, shaved ice carts, street-to-window conversations, and parked-car speaker-contests that were the emblems of summertime in the Lower East Side for decades before.

Imamura curated the performances on August 26 and 28 with DJ Ruby who played 70's disco, DJ Justin Allen with his Vintage Hits, Carol Gauloise (Seth Cameron) performing Tragi-pop covers, The Outside Eye (Lovers Memorandum) a Danceable Jazz band, The Oakland White Room (Francis without the Lights) performing minimal pop and Devin Kenny's hiphop, punk, sound experiments.
