Patrick Cleandenim was born and raised in Lawrence, KS where he first made musical waves as a teenager in his dark-pop trio Clockwork. Recognized by local promoters, the band was quickly opening for acts such as The Shins and The Decemberists. After parting ways with Clockwork, he recorded a folk-pop EP under the name Patrick Clendenin (titled Three Love Songs) which enjoyed regional critical acclaim. Local media dubbed Patrick as Lawrence’s ‘golden boy’ and a ‘pop-wunderkind’.

 

The first album, “Baby Comes Home” is a nod to Brill Building glory-days and is influenced by Motown, orchestral pop, and the rich arrange- ments found in Ellington’s late 60s suites. Baby Comes Home was released in 2007 on Broken Horse Records (Europe), Rallye (Japan), and in the US on Ba Da Bing Records. 

 

The second album is “Orange Moonbeam Floorshow” which was a collaboration with producer/arranger Jay Israelson in a home-studio of sythesizers, sequencers, and drum machines. Within its tracks Patrick depicts a sound- scape of a glittering and dark nightlife through the production styles of Kraftwerk and the the pop sensibilities of Klaus Nomi crossed with a young Madonna. Patrick released the album in 2009 by Sphinx Groop Int'l and later release by Broken Horse Records (Europe) and Rallye (Japan). 

 

The third album, “Radio Heartbreak” glides through a decade-spanning set of musical influences, drawing inspiration from “blue-eyed soul” (mid-70s Bowie, Todd Rundgren, Steely Dan), R&B, disco, glam, and 50s rock and roll. The album was released in the summer of 2011 on Broken Horse Records (Europe). Cleandenim toured with The Drums on an international tour in the Fall of 2011 to promote the album. In 2012 with the trilogy complete, Cleandenim took retired the Patrick Cleandenim band.
