Part of my ongoing “Heads” series, this body of work extends my exploration of unseen realities through resin self-portrait sculptures. Each piece represents a different persona I’ve experienced, reflecting the layered and often conflicting aspects of my identity. This series helps me process and give form to the shifting inner voices that shape how I move through the world. It invites a deeper look into the complexity of self-perception and the emotional forces behind it.
"Split Head" was the first piece in the series—the one that started it all. At the time, I was working as Managing Director at a high-end gallery, constantly navigating emotional minefields, power dynamics, and competing identities. I felt torn between the many roles I had to play: to my boss, I was the right hand; to staff, the leader; to art handlers, often their only advocate; to the gallerinas, a cautionary tale; to the artists, their emotional anchor; to clients, their discreet fixer. I was also the money manager—holding the keys to everything. I looked powerful on the surface, but inside, I was confused and fragmented. The sculpture is part cyborg, part abstract head—square-shaped, with synthetic hair and a spliced video screen. The embedded montage of found and original footage captures the sensory overload of a day in my life. Scenes from Ghost in the Shell appear inside, a nod to the way my phone and laptop made me feel more machine than human.
